What is included with Browser Free?

Browser Free includes unlimited highlights and notes in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, plus 3 PDF exports. Highlights and notes stay local in the browser where you created them unless you add Highlight Notes Pro.

What is Highlight Notes Pro?

Highlight Notes Pro is currently available as a special $5 founding lifetime offer. The regular Pro price is $0.99/month. It adds cloud sync across supported browsers, Web Library and iPhone access, cross-browser and cross-device access, and unlimited PDF exports.

What is Highlight Notes for Safari?

Safari on macOS requires the one-time Mac App Store purchase of $3. That purchase unlocks local Safari features, including unlimited local highlights, notes and PDF exports on that Mac. Pro is separate and is required if you want those Safari highlights to sync with Chrome, Edge, Firefox, the Web Library or iPhone.

Do I need both the Safari purchase and Pro?

Only if you want both local Safari features and syncing. The $3 Mac purchase enables Highlight Notes in Safari on that Mac. The special $5 founding lifetime Pro offer enables cloud sync and access across supported browsers and devices. The regular Pro price is $0.99/month. Buying one does not automatically include the other.

I bought the Safari Mac app. Do I need an account?

No. Apple verifies the $3 purchase in the Highlight Notes Mac app. Once the purchase is active, the Safari extension can use the local Mac features, including unlimited PDF exports, without requiring sign-in. An account and Highlight Notes Pro are only needed for cloud sync and access on other browsers or devices.

How do I link my Apple purchase to my Highlight Notes account?

1. Open the Highlight Notes Mac app and confirm that the Safari purchase is active.
2. Open the Safari extension settings and sign in with Google or Apple.
3. Select Link Apple Purchase. If the purchase is not found yet, select Restore Apple Purchase instead.
4. Return to the Safari extension settings. In the Highlight Notes account card on the right, choose Refresh account status.

After linking, the account can use Highlight Notes Pro for cloud sync, supported browsers, the Web/iPhone Library and any other Pro features included with your account.

When will Link Apple Purchase or Restore Apple Purchase appear?

Before you sign in, the Safari settings page only shows that the Mac purchase is active on this Mac. Once the Mac app has verified the Apple entitlement and you sign in to Highlight Notes, the button appears as Link Apple Purchase. If you sign in before a local Apple entitlement has been detected, it appears as Restore Apple Purchase; choosing it asks the App Store to check the purchase again. If the account already has Pro, no linking button is needed.

Does my Highlight Notes sign-in need to use the same Apple ID that made the purchase?

No. These are separate identities. The Apple ID signed in to the App Store must be the one that owns the Safari purchase when you buy or restore it. Your Highlight Notes account can use Google or Sign in with Apple, and it can be a different email or Apple ID. After Apple verifies an anonymous transaction, the first authenticated Highlight Notes account that claims it becomes its linked account. For security, a transaction that is already linked to another Highlight Notes account cannot be reassigned.

What can I use without linking?

On the Mac where Apple verified the purchase, you can use unlimited PDF exports, unlimited local highlights and unlimited local notes. Linking is not required for those local features. Without Pro, the library does not move to other browsers or devices and is not available in the Web/iPhone Library.

What does linking add?

Linking connects the verified Apple purchase to your Highlight Notes account so the account can use Pro for cloud sync, cross-browser access in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and Web/iPhone Library access. Your existing Safari purchase is reused; linking does not ask you to buy the Mac app again. A separate Highlight Notes Pro subscription is still required for syncing.

I purchased before I signed in. Can I still link it?

Yes. Sign in first, then choose Link Apple Purchase or Restore Apple Purchase. Restore asks Apple to verify the purchase again; it does not create a second charge. A transaction already linked to another Highlight Notes account cannot be claimed by a different account.

Which Google account should I use?

Use the same Google account in the extension and Web/iPhone Library. Your account identity and Pro licence are shared across supported devices.

Why is the Web/iPhone Library locked?

Cloud sync and Web/iPhone Library access require an active Highlight Notes Pro subscription linked to an account. Browser Free users can continue using unlimited highlights and notes locally in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

Why are highlights missing from the web library?

1. Confirm that the extension and web library use the same account.
2. Confirm that the account shows Highlight Notes Pro.
3. Choose Sync now in the extension settings, then refresh the web library.
4. Check whether the missing highlight exists in the extension's local library.

Can I add tags to highlights?

Yes. Tags are optional and help you group highlights by topic, project or follow-up. Tags sync with the highlight through your Pro account, so they are available in the Web/iPhone Library as well as your browser libraries.

Will closing Safari sign me out?

No. Closing a tab or Safari should not sign you out. A new sign-in may be required after you choose Sign out, the 30-day session expires, Safari website data is cleared, or the session is invalidated for security.

Can I edit a highlight?

The captured highlight text remains read-only because it helps the extension find and restore the passage on its source webpage. Notes can be edited in the library. To replace incorrect highlighted text, delete that highlight and capture the correct passage again.

What happens when I sign out?

Signing out removes the account session from that device. It does not delete the synced cloud library or the locally verified Apple entitlement. Sign in again with the same account to restore access.

How do full-page exports work?

Browser Free includes 3 PDF exports. Highlight Notes Pro includes unlimited PDF exports. The $3 Safari Mac purchase also unlocks unlimited exports locally on that Mac, even when the extension is not signed in. PDF export is available through the extension, not the Web Library.

Is Raindrop sync stable?

Any optional Raindrop integration is experimental beta functionality available only with Pro. Behaviour may change, and it should not be used as the only backup of important information.

How do I request account-data help or deletion?

Use the verified support contact published with the Highlight Notes extension listing. Include the account email used for Highlight Notes and a short description of the request. Identity verification may be required before account data is disclosed or deleted.
