Information Highlight Notes processes
When you use Highlight Notes locally, the extension stores your saved highlights, notes, page titles, page addresses, colours, and selection information in your browser. When you sign in with Google, Highlight Notes receives the basic account information needed to identify you, such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier. Highlight Notes does not receive your Google password.
Cloud sync and Web/iPhone Library
Cloud sync and Web/iPhone Library access are Founding Lifetime Pro features. If enabled, Highlight Notes processes the highlights, notes, source page information, colours, and selection context you choose to sync. This information is used to provide your account library across supported devices.
PDF exports
Free accounts include 3 PDF exports. Founding Lifetime Pro includes unlimited PDF exports. Highlight Notes records the export allowance used by an account so it can apply the correct entitlement.
Payments and licences
Stripe processes Founding Lifetime Pro payments. Highlight Notes receives the information needed to confirm payment and activate the US$5 one-time licence, but does not store complete payment-card details.
Experimental Raindrop sync
Founding Lifetime Pro includes experimental beta Raindrop sync. If you choose to enable it, information required for the requested synchronization may be exchanged with Raindrop. Beta functionality may change and should not be treated as a backup.
Service providers
Highlight Notes uses Google for sign-in, Cloudflare for hosting, backend processing and database services, and Stripe for payment processing. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.
How information is used
Information is used to operate the extension and library, authenticate accounts, synchronize eligible libraries, apply licence entitlements, process purchases, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and protect the service.
Sharing and sale
Highlight Notes does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the product, when you ask us to share it, or when disclosure is legally required.
Retention and deletion
Local information remains until you remove it or clear the extension's browser storage. Synced information remains while your account is active or until deletion is requested, subject to limited security, legal, and backup retention needs. Signing out removes the session from that device but does not delete the cloud library.
Security
Highlight Notes uses HTTPS connections and authenticated sessions to protect information in transit and restrict account-library access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can use Highlight Notes locally without enabling cloud sync. You can sign out on a device, remove local content through the extension, or request help with account data through the Support page.
